I just did this myself last week to paint it myself. I've got an 05 as well.
Nothing too difficult about removing the tank. However, its a little more difficult once you crack it open. The last owner couldn't figure it out and ended up cutting the wires leading to the gas gauge and electrical taping them back together.
You have a small amount of space and slack on the tubes/wires. Not complex just takes some patience!
