Question gremlins

the other day I took my 02 rk to the corner store, about a 14 mile round trip reaching speeds of 70 mph.when i returned to the 1/2 mile long driveway i stopped by my mailbox to check for bills, let out the clutch and the engine raced as if i were in neultrol there was a loud Whirr.i shut it off and put the kick stand down. what i found was all 5 of the bolts that hold the rear sprocket on had come out and the sprocket fell off. that WHIRR i heard was my belt spinning across axle. it was as if a gremlin had crawled under and stole all my bolts while i was at the mailbox. there was no clink, clank, grinding ???? how could this happen without any symtoms. or worse, a wreck!,i feel lucky that it did'nt tear something up. all 5 bolts were gone, i searched all around that mailbox and down the highway and could not find a single bolt. I'm baffled.
I had just replaced my rear tire about 3000 miles before that, now, im told that when this is done the sprocket has to be removed and when replaced has to be torqued in a pattern with lock-tite anybody know anything about this? the bike only has 8500 miles on it. and i don't think this was a factory issue.
also could anybody tell me what these bolt are? head size length, pitch, thread count etc. also the torque pattern and ft. pounds. I have to fix this myself. can't afford a mechcanic and at this point don't trust one! at least not the one who changed that tire! PLEASE HELP! it would be greatly appreciated.

Local shop leaves the gear on.
