Default Handlebar Grips

I found a nice set of grips for my '08 FLHX and having replaced grips on an '86 FLHTC, an '00 FLHR, and an '05 Fat Boy, I figure it will be a piece of cake. I download the instruction from HD and it directs me to the manual for the R side throttle. I forgot for a second that it is "wire" controlled. I read the section in the manual and it seems to say open the handlebar switches and pull the twist grip off and push the new one on till it clicks in place. Sounds too easy compared to the twin throttle cables of the past that I am used to. Any advice or am I reading too much into a very easy install. I really don't want to take things apart and then have to play for hours to figure out that I did something ridiculously wrong. SO, I am looking for some advice, direction, pictures, etc. from "my brothers." Help the "old man."

The bottom half of my switch housing doesn't seem to come off the handlebar enough to allow the grip to slide off.
