Default Latch on 2008 Ultra Classic

I recently purchased a 2008 Ultra Classic. There is a latch or lever on the left side below the seat and I can't figure out what it goes to. I have checked the owner's manual and the service manual and neither mention what the latch is for. Can someone tell me what it is for? Thanks!

There are cables that run under the seat but I not taken the seat off to find where they go yet. Thanks for the reply.

Default Thanks!

Thanks. It did come with a backrest. I will have to check out how all that works. Interesting that the service manual and owners manual don't mention anything about it. Thanks again.

Not mentioned in owner manual because it was an added accessory. Go to HD's website and punch in adjustable rider backrest and you will see.
