I got a set of rush mufflers with 2.25 baffles and i was wondering if the 2.5 have better deeper sound to them
If you're runnin' a stock 96" engine you don't want to go any bigger than 2.25", you're going to start losing performance. Call Rush direct and let them guide you, they have techs who are very helpful and will tell you what you need to know.

When you say stock 96 motor, do you mean no stage 1 kit? I put a set of Rush slipons with 2" baffles. The Dealer service guy talked me into getting the remap with stage 1. I could tell a big difference in throttle response when I left the dealer.

And they become a nightmare to tune on injected models after you get any bigger than 2.25".
I am running the 2" baffle now and all is good. Will be replacing with the 2 1/2" baffle along with SERT, HD Heavy breather, and dyno. I had thought about putting Vance and Hines big radius on my 09 Street Glide to set it apart from the others. The pipes would look great but the space left under the saddle bags leaves alot of the rear wheel visible when you get away from the dual exhaust. Not quite the look I anticipated so will just up it to the 2 1/2 baffle and keep the Rush mufflers.
When I wrecked my bike last year, the dealer grabbed the wrong set of pipes and sent me on my way with the 2.5's instead of the 2's. I knew within about 250ft that something wasn't right with the bike. It was significantly louder, but lost ALOT of torque. Had to take it back in and get them to swap back to the 2" then took the packing out.....sounds great when I get on it, quitens down enough to enjoy the tunes but still be heard when cruising. There again.....just my 2 cents
I just ordered the 2.5 from 2's. My indiy is doing a bunch of other work so while they are at it they are throwing it on the dyno and remapping the PCV. I heard you only start to lose torque if you dont have a fuel control module such as a SERT, PCV, Thundermax, TTS etc?
I put on Rivco slip ons on my `09 FLTR w/2.25 baffles. Sounde too stock. Put in 2.5in. baffles and still too quite. Took out the packing and put the 2.5`s in backwards and just right now. Can hear the tunes very well also. It ran just fine but I then had the Power commander put in with auto tune. Just my 2 cents.
