yes, it sets you back quite a bit. And, for those of you that asked, the seat is rock hard and the shape is a little odd. I am sure it is something to get used to. The hardest part is getting used to sitting in that position. over all I am very happy.

install was a snap. the instructions are idiot proof.

When I sat on the drop seat at Daytona, it kinda felt like you are wedged into the bike, is that what you mean? The feel of the production FBI bikes is more comfortable to me. But I'm not spending $40+ to get that either! LOL.

Sat on one at Daytona seriously thinking about buying it for the wife (cause she's height challenged). The seat was rock hard and put you in a "V" so to speak.
I couldn't see her riding it for more than 50 miles before breaking her backside. Plus the reach to the bars!

Wife said No F-ing way. Looks cool though...

LP, did you see the red bike with the other kit installed? It had the seat more forward and I was able to reach the ground alot easier and wasn't wedged in the seat. I think the old style kit looks better, but the new style actually would be a help for someone needing it lower. Alot easier to reach the bars too. The FBI guys also said you could order the seat more forward or rearward when you order the kit.

I have been looking at this drop seat for over a year. If they will sell me a seat pan instead of the seat, it's a done deal. I don't want to shell out $400 for a seat I will tear apart.

I sat on one of their bikes at Daytona this year, I didn't like the way I felt wedged into the seat...maybe my *** is just too big

Default 2 drop seat Narrow conversions installed

Gary here at Warpspeeds Power Motor Sports, Arlington Tx., we have installed 2 of the narrow Seat drop conversion , both with the 2 up Touring seat with back rests , , The conversion went together like a dream instructions were great and to the point , the 2 up touring seat is a little more comfortable than the regular conversion , the backrest really helps too , The seat height with progressive 940 is 25 1/2 inches , the Parts were perfect , fitting was great , just like they said , so much easier for a short with short legs , FINALLY a Short Man's Tourng Bike , here are a few Pictures I can send more , we will send one of the seats to Mean City Cycles so they can do there magic , Gary

After looking at these kits on the internet for about a year, I ran across a used kit on Ebay for about a third of retail and couldn't pass it up. At 6'2" I didnt have problems reaching the ground, but have always prefered the softail feel of sitting in the bike rather than on it. Put it on about two weeks ago and its just what I was hoping for. The pushed back seat feels great with apes and extended running boards makes for a roomy feel.
The touring seat is pretty firm, but actually very comfortable. Its wide and had a good shape with lots of lower back support. Not sure if I could make a 800 mile day like I could on my tall-boy seat, but I will find out soon enough.
As for the installation, it went smooth with no surprises. I watched the you tube video the night before the parts showed up and had it done in about three hours. I did have to remove the california vapor recovery canister from under the back of the tank to make room, but not problems. I did lose the auto-cancel feature on the turnsignals, but expected I might since I had read that on other posts.

Sounds great, Sam. How about some pics? Love to see it. Been wanting to do this forever myself.

I just picked up a kit also. With the wide rear fender and extented bags. I'll report back in a couple weeks.
