Default Less than 15K normal for front tire?

I went to a dealer (Adamec) here in Jacksonville, FL today to get my money back from my front tire replacement (407 to 408). I had the SB in hand. I was told, judging from my receipt, that I didn't tell them it was wobbling (which I did), and that 14k is more than can be expected from a front tire....huh???

I've had problems with this service dept before. When I had the tires changed, they acted like they didn't know of any wear issues with the 407. Now they act like a front tire is lucky to get 14K....WTF?

I always get over 20K on the old 402 front tires.

I got 39k outta my first 402. The second one had 25k when I swapped it because I had a new tire getting some age on it. It still had a lot of miles left on it.

Usually change the back tire every 10-12k depending on wear. Every 2 back tires I get a front just to make things easier. So usually 20-24k on each front tire. However, working in the shop I constantly see tires come in with far less milage that need to be replaced immediately, if not the month before.

I've never worn out a front tire. Its gets changed every two rear tires. Which used to mean every 20-25k.

Now that I'm running E-3's maybe I'll start wearing out fronts.

I appreciate the responses. This was more of a rant than anything else. With mostly interstate miles, that tire still had 6-7/32 left on the parts that weren't scalloped. I am definitely changing dealers. Lots of other people around here have problems with them.

I get crappy mileage out of the 402's. I get about 6 - 7000 on each rear, and about 20k on the front. At 20k it still has some tread left. 3 to 1, rear to front.

I have never really worn one all the way down as I usually replace them at the same time as the second rear, get 14 to 16k outta the rears so fronts are usually in the 30k range.
