My wife and I have four F4 windshields. 1)Ultra, 1)Street Glide 1)Deluxe and 1)Softtail Custom. It is NASCAR technology that F4 brought to the motorcycle world four years ago. We love them because they are absolutely distortion free and highly scratch resistant. You clean them with windex and a paper towel... I have 12,000 AZ miles on my Ultra F4 windshield and it is as good as the day I put it on.
I have the 8" curved clearview and anything is better than the stock shield which is just for looks but is totally non functional. I'm 5'9 and the 8" is just right. I can see over it but it does help block most of the wind. It's not like being in a car or behind some big roadking windshield but it has good form and very good function for what it is. If you want to block more wind, go to a higher shield like some of the others.
What is stock windshield on an 07 Ultra? Also, how do you guys measure the height you need? I've heard, putting tape with 1" marks on the windshield and finding where you look over it. Do you measure from the segment where the windshield exist the fairing?
I'm 5'9". My wife is 5'5". I had cut down my Road King's windshield a couple of inches and she complained that it was winder for her. Will the recurve solve that for her? I hate having to look thru wet glasses and a wet windshield, but need to keep my gal happy if I want her to ride with me.
I think that the stock one is the 9 1/2. I have a 9 1/2 dark tint recurve on mine now and it is about the same height as the stocker. I also went with the blem shield and couldn't tell where the blem was.
You may want to look at Clark's Custom Windshields. I got the 10" smoke and absolutely love it. Especially the extended width of the shield. Cuts down wind on hands. Paid 74.00 for it delivered. their site is customflhtwindshields.net . Owned by Robin and Pat Clark. Great people.

They are great folks, and their shields are very, very reasonable. The one thing I would recommend if you go this route is to get the mar resistant model, as the standard tend to scratch pretty easily. They are also a great way to test out the height you might want very cheaply, and then once you've got it figured out, you can purchase the more expensive brands. Just another option for you.
The stock Ultra windshield from HD is 12" You measure from the top of the fairing to the top of the windshield above the center bolt. The rule of thumb for measuring windshield height, if you want to look over the windshield is the top of the shield should be at your lips or a 1/4 inch below. Keep in mind that at 55 mph on a calm day, with a stock design windshield (not re-curve / glock) will deflect the air approximately 4" above the shield. Now if you ride solo most of the time that's not a problem. That said, if you have a passenger, keep in mind they are sitting up to 4" above you. Running a shorty windshield just may put 99% of the wind right in their face.
I'm 5'8" and run with an 8" screen on my Ultra. I can comfortably look over it and since my wife rides her own scoot most of the time, I don't have to worry about the wind hitting her ;-) Beaware that with a recurve style screen the wind is channeled around the rider right into the passenger. I've been riding for 52 years and have gone thru way too many windshields, that is until I came across F4. Check them out... www.f4customs.com No, I am not part of the company in any way shape or form, just a very happy customer...
