Where were you parked prior to going for your ride. Perhaps someone was in the process of taking your bags, and you came up and they left them on partially. That's why I changed my attaching points of the bags with buttonhead screws and wing nuts on the inside.

I have bolts with lockwashers and wingnuts on the inside. $5 at Home Depot

I would think you forgot to latch the lid, sometimes easy to do in our haste to get on the road..

Damn that sucks....My bag opened but all i lost was my shock pump....Must of been quite a shocker to loose a bag....

Shocker to say the least. Aside from the bag, i had a color matched latch. Fitted hd liner, ridetek lid protector, snapon cycle kit, mag light, bungees, co2 inflator kit, and about 300 dollars worth of **** i was gonna put on ebay.

Also had a set of plates in there. I went back to recover the plates. I knew the bag was destroyed but you shouldve seen the mess it made. Looked like a multi car collision. Highway cops were there. Thats when the second half of the story begins

If there's enough turbulence inside the bag...those wire keepers that the pins "click" to, aren't hard to pull out.
