I've just returned from a Rally in the Al Hajjar mountains and have what appears to be oil down my right side pipe. The bike was serviced at the dealer before the rally, I rode to the rally, put the bike in the show (came 2nd in the Tourer class but no cigar), had a couple of ride outs and all was fine. Only on returning home was there oil on the pipe.
Surely if it was overfilled, the oil would appear on the way to the rally. I've not had a chance to take a close look but has anyone any ideas?
Check for oil around the air filter. It's probably just a little over full or you rode it hard back from the rally and had some come out the breathers. Nothing to worry about. Wipe it off and make sure you're below the full mark on the stick.
It really does not have to be over full to cause this problem (just full). Check the oil level and around the filter like the previous poster said. It should be a little below the full mark.
BTW 2nd is better than a poke in the eye with a stick.
Thanks guys, had visions of blown gasket and engine rebuild. Will get to it on Thursday and keep an eye on it over the coming days. Never had it happen before so was a bit concerned.
2nd is not 1st but couldn't compete with a 23" front wheel and custom front fender. Winning bike was a stunner. Maybe next time...

That's the problem with mods, someone alway's has more.
I had a similar thing happen on a trip to Colorado. The bike ran fine for the three days before we hit the mountains and as soon as we got some altitude the thing blew oil all over the right side of the bike. The dealer had overfilled it before I left. I just siphoned a bit of the excess oil and washed down the bike and all was well for the rest of the trip.
the oil is in a remote oil tank not5 in the engine I do not see haow the tank
being full makes the engine blow oil. My 06 ultre with 80000 miles does not blow
oil with a full oil tank
