Default 09-10 Frame Stabilization

Guys, I have been "kicking around" the idea of a newer bike 09-10, mainly because of the new frame (I have an 03 Ultra). I am seeing the same stabilizer type kits being sold for these bikes. Is there STILL problems with "rear steer", "wiggles", etc. I was under the impression that the newer frame fixed these issues. Whats up?

There seems to be a neck bearing tightening issue. I had a severe High speed wobble (09 UC) and was told to check the neck bearing, bought the Snap on tool-followed the manual issue solved.

Just my experience,
Mike

The 'rear stear' problem in earlier touring models has its origin in the rubber bushes at the swingarm pivot. The stabilizer kits, of which there are around a dozen brands, stabilize those bushes, in the same way the front engine mount has one. There is a third stabilizer at the heads. All Buells and the current Sportsters have three stabilizers, so these kits provide the 'missing link' to the touring range. If the factory installed them on production we would have one thing less to moan about and everyone would marvel at how well their dressers handle.

The latest touring bikes use a revised set-up for the rear rubber mounts and have replaced the front engine mounts with a similar setup. So while the latest bikes have many improvements they now suffer from two sets of rubber mounts that can compress sideways and affect handling. So it is no surprise the stabilizer industry has targetted them!

I haven't ridden the latest bikes, but my Buell, Dyna and Glide all have three stabilizers, True-Track kits on the Harleys. It's the only way to travel!

And because of the new front (two) mounts and the way the frame cradles the engine, the 09's+ dont need a "stabilizer".

In a year and a half of 09s I have not seen one person buy one for an 09....yet.

The End.

Over 9,000 miles on my 2009 FLHTCU , No Rear Wiggle what so ever.

Front end dive... I had to install:
Works performance Front spring kit (set extra firm) + 20weight Bel Ray Fork Oil.

Looking at Rear Works Performance Shocks

My FLHX 2007 OMG scary rear end wiggle.....

Having gone from an '05 RKC to an '09 Ultra I can say there is a big difference. The '09 or '10 will not need any kind of stabilizer IMO. Good luck with your decision.
