Sears torque wrenches
Yeah, if you never have to calibrate and certify the tool it's easy to belive that it is accurate. After all, don't we all have calibrated torque wrists? (There is a fine art to using torque wrenches correctly. Most people don't know it and overtorque everything.)
Picked up a torque wrench (inch pounds) from HF on sale for $19.99. This is the third torque wrench from HF that I have purchased. I was a helicopter mechanic in the Marine Corps for 20 years before I retired in 2004. We used Snap-On tools to include torque wrenches to work on our birds. On one of my bikes (Honda CBR 929RR) I was installing a steering dampener and I had to torque the steering neck. Long story short I used the HF torque wrench to apply the low side of the torque setting then used the Snap-On and the Snap-On gave the clicking noise at the applied setting. Then I increased the torque setting by 5 ft lbs and used the Snap-On and the nut moved a little bit and gave me the clicking noise. Then I used the HF with the 5 ft lb increase and it gave me the clicking noise without moving the nut. Not a scientific study but I was happy with my comparison that I purchased two more HF torque wrenches.
