Default HD Fog Lamp install

I have done a search and cannot find an answer to my question. I am installing the HD 68913-98B engine guard fog lamps on my 2009 Road King. I will bore 1/2" holes in the engine guard in order to hide the wires. I know where to bore the holes above the lamps, but where should the harness come out at the top of the engine guard? Directly in the center, or offset to one side? Also, to what should I secure the wiring harness? The instructions are not clear on this. I will use rubber gromets and silicone sealant where the wires enter and leave the engine guard. I an going to try to get the wiring harness under the console rather than removing the gas tank. Also, I do not plan on using the supplied button on the clutch side, but plan on using the accessory plug under the seat and using the toggle switch on the left side. Any suggestions? Thanks, Halfbreed

My harness exits in the bottom center below where it mounts underneath the warning label. I used a rubber hose as a grommet. Did not use any silicone. I ran the harness under the tank and used the button by the clutch. For me it is easier to operate from the handle bars. The toughest part was splicing into the headlamp to install the hi-beam cutoff on my brand new bike!

Halfbreed,

Your plan is exactly how I did my install two years ago and I'm very pleased with the results on my '07 RK.

I went without the supplied switch and instead hardwired the fogs to operate via hi-lo switch thru the unused acc switch on my nacelle....

If I have both nacelle switches in the UP position, then the head light and passing lights are lit when in low beam. If I flip to high beam, then the passing lights go out and the fogs come on.....I love it!......You should see cage drivers jerk their heads and finally SEE me when I flip the hi-lo switch!

Wired in this fashion, I still have the ability to switch off both the passing lights and fogs via nacelle switches, or they can operate off the relays via hi-lo thumb switch.

I also ran the power wires under the dash vice under the tank and never yet regretted it.
