2010 and Cat. Converter

I do however appreciate the fact that he posts so many dyno charts, especially ones like this one which don't show dramatic gains (unlike the ad claims that an air filter will give you "21% more HP").
The converters offer a restriction and run hotter.....that's what they do and how they work. The question is, "does it matter?". I don't know, but I think there's a lot of internet hysteria about all the problems surrounding Harleys, and I think a lot of people have made a lot of money capitalizing on that hysteria.
I would be far more concerned about the cat breaking down over time, and chunks of it getting pulled back into the cylinders by the vacuum created by suddenly letting off the throttle. I'm especially concerned with that after hearing the news that the ethanol content of gasoline is about to be upped to 15%.
Of course, maybe that's internet hysteria too.
My bike is a 2010 so I have the 2-1 exhaust. The cost from Harley for the extra parts needed to convert 2-1-2 was $300.47. The big expense was the LH heat shield $152.10 and the crossover pipe $87.30.

Total invested..... $1418.47
I will post results soon after the installation is complete.

BTW, the crossover pipe is back ordered, estimated time for arrival from Harley is unknown.
So, power? √ Heat? √ Sound? √ Volume? √ All not bad.
Now, getting to throttle response... sluggish compared to a free breathing system. Something that almost borders on unsafe in my view. I was used to a throttle that reacted immediately and a lot of low end torque to thrust the bike when I wanted it to GO! The new stock bike just didn't respond nearly as nicely.
So, in the tradition of my previous two Harleys, I decided I needed a free flowing engine, and a modest bump in displacement. Ordered a D&D 2-into-1 exhaust to be rid of the catalysts and gain free flowing exhaust. And a 103ci Stage 1 big bore kit to open up the throat and beef the displacement.
So far, just the exhaust system and A/C have been changed and the increase in throttle response is amazing. Now the throttle reacts more quickly for off the line moves, as well as with "double clutch" downshifts. I love it. In fact, the power and responsiveness is such that now I really don't feel the need to install the big bore kit and SEST! But since I have the parts already, I'll probably do that at some point before too long.
There is something nice about knowing the cats are gone. And the engine really feels quite liberated now. Perhaps a freer flowing slip on and A/C would also improve throttle response (keeping the headers & cats), but I see no point is keeping the headers with the cats.
