I've always rented any bike I've considered purchasing for a least a day. You really need to take it out and put some miles on 'em before you spend all that $$$$

Oddly enough, if you look up the thread "talk me into a Fatboy" that I started a few months ago when I was trying to make this decision, you'll find that quite a few reccomended I go with the Road King in that thread.

I like the Road King as well - always have! I can take stuff off and get it down to a basic in-town bike without even picking up a tool. Get tools and you can strip the King down and make it look really lean! I can go the other way and buy farings and bags/tour packs and get a bike that's like a Street Glide or UC complete with radio n stuff!...all on the same Road King! You can't say that for any other bike that I know of! I have it all with the KING! From the back, the Road King has symmetry - it's a beautiful thing!

I have an RK but I'd agree with this. H-D should offer the B motor in an RK-style tourer along with the bigger fuel tank and Brembo ABS brakes.

LOL, same thing happened to me. My buddie said you need to ride my 07 street Glide. Man I was pissed at him after that until the day I wrecked my Deuce and traded it for an 09 Street Glide. I'm trying to return the favor, but can't get him to ride my '09 Street glide he's too afraid it's better than his.

Buy the Road King!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I loved my slicked out/tricked out Fatty!

It was excellent for bouncing from bar to bar.

Poker runs were tollerable and it looked GOOD

Then I did some work on a friends RK.

I hit the highway for a road test and ended up selling my beloved fatty and bought a RK a couple months later!!

I always trailerd my fatty to Sturgis.

My RK has never been in a trailer and I can't wait for the next road trip!

I really had never even considered touring when I had my fatty.

Now it's all I think about

You'll have to decide on what fits your needs.

I will warn you.......touring is addictive when your on a bike that is comfortable for the task.

I never understood why anyone would consider riding more than a couple hundred miles in a day would be fun.............until I bought my RK!

Back in Oct of 03 I sold my Fat Boy and picked up a Road King. Never looked back. Nothing wrong with the FB, just liked the ride of the baggers better.

I rode an 03 Deuce for 6 years. I loved the look of the Deuce and with a windshield and a set of Boss Bags I did a good bit of touring on it; much with one of the kids on the back. The kids turned into teenagers though and the back seat of the Deuce got small. I just traded it for Road King a few weeks ago. The kids say the passenger ride is MUCH better. The King did feel BIG to start with but I quickly got used to it. Like one poster said earlier, the King feels much less strained at highway speeds (if your touring definitely get cruise control.) I was considering a Fat Boy and putting my Boss Bags on it, but once my son road on the King there was no turning back.

On the Deuce I was good for about 300 miles. I did 200 on the Road King this past Sunday and could have done 200 more easy.

If two up riding is a factor I'd definitely recommend the Road King.
