If anyone knows of a good independent for general service in the Las Vegas area I'd appreciate the tip. My '09 Ultra is up for its 5000 mile service and the dealer wants $386 plus tax for synthetic; which it pretty expensive. If all else fails I'll do it myself; but I have never worked on a Harley and my time is short; I'd just prefer someone who knows what they're doing. There is an outfit here called Sinister Cycles that advertises often, but in this town who knows; Im skeptical without a referral or a reasonable amount of feedback.
My Brother has a shop in Henderson, NV.... www.actionmotorcycletires.net is the link. The shop is on Boulder Highway. Tomcat's # is (702)565-7199 @ 1433 North Boulder Highway.
On my way out west I called so many shops in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and Nevada. Almost all of them were $350 and up. Las Vegas was the most expensive and they quoted me over $400. I finally called the HD dealership in Kingsman and he actually pulled the sheet on the 09 Ultra Classic and see what was required. Calling off all the items he quoted me $209. When I told him I was traveling from out of town he went out of his way to get me in and out. His name was Paul. I will never forget that he is the only service manager that actually looked up what was needed and did not guess. I know that it is a little out of the way but what a ride!

Thanks in advance for your help!
I know you asked for an independent but Henderson HD is a great place. They really do care about you and your bike.
Thanks for all the replies; I really appreciate it. I called a couple independents here and they all want $300 + I may try the guy in Kingman at some point, that is really good information. I think this time around I am going to do the oil/clutch adjustment myself and look for a shop again for the 10k. I've been putting more than 1,000/mo on this bike and when I started adding up what service was going to cost me at the dealer every 5k I was shocked; I guess I just never thought about it.

The inexpensive part is the purchase of the bike.
As much as I can, I do the maintenance myself. I get my tires at Motorcycle Tire Center. I bring them the wheels, and there is no charge for the mounting. Except for the last change. Both tires for $125 out of pocket.
I ride with the Southern Nevada HOG group. They have a rewards point system. The more you participate in the chapter activities, the more points you earn. Like I said, $125 for both tires last time, using points.
Earlier in the year brought home over $1,500 worth of parts for mine, and the wife's Deluxe for nothing, just turned in points.
