Default Old cassette's conversion to mp3

After reading the 10 hours on a CD thread and getting that to work I tried to find a way to do my old cassettes. There are services that still do this but I didn't know which ones were best for the bike so I found this do it yourself. If you still have a cassette player you can hook it up to your computer using the phone output to your computer audio card input jack (blue jack) and use a Free program called Audacity. You have to play your cassettes so it is slow but it gives you a chance to remember the oldies while doing someting else. The download has a tutorial so read that first because there are some settings that you need to do. Also you have to export the file as mp3 rather than just save it. Good luck and hope some can use. Yes I suppose you can find some of them on CD's but I'm cheap plus didn't know which ones I wanted.

Cassettes, Now there's a word you don't hear much anymore.

Thanks for the tip!

I used this same technique to convert my vinyl lp's. It is somewhat tedious, but the sound files that resulted sound great. It also saves a lot of $$$$ over trying to buy all of those old albums on CD.

yep. i taught my (then) 79 year old father-in-law how to do it with his LPs. it was a great winter project for him since the golfing was limited. he now has about 3,000 songs on his mp3 player! He's 85 now and onto doing pictures onto DVDs...

Or like at my house, Open reel to reel tape! (I can still buy studio tape for it, but not for my cassette mastering deck.)
