Question 2009 flhtc

I just purchased a 2009 FLHTC to upgrade from my 2003 FXST. I was so attached to my Softail that I could not let it go. Now, I have both worlds.

Anyway, I had couple of questions in regards to my 09 FLHTC

1. Would I need the rear speakers if I have a passenger?
2. Where can I find some reputable after market highway pegs?
3. I purchased the bike with the Screaming Eagle Stage 1 kit – the exhaust doesn’t seem to roar as I would like it. Heck – my softail is louder – any recommendations – without compromising the integrity of the Stage 1 kit?

1) not necessarily...depends on how loud the pipes are; and in your current case, probably not needed.
2) Harley, Kuryakyn, CustomChrome, DragSpecialties, Indy bike shops, etc
3) Pipes are a unique question, because only you can say 'I like that sound'...That said, you need to figure out what your budget is, whether you want to go with slip-on's or not, etc.

Did the Stage 1 include the SuperTuner?? If so, then whatever you do, you'll probably need to dyno the bike. Many folks on the Forum contact Jaime @ FuelMoto (HDF authorized advertiser) ...

No you don't need rear speakers if you ride two up. My wife can hear my radio fine. I did upgrade my stock speakers to J&M 3 ways. Hogtunes are also available.

I put a set of Kuryakin adjustable pegs on my 09 Flhtc. They look great and can easily be adjusted for your reach.

I put Rush slip-on's with 2" baffles on it with the SE stage1 kit and remapped. The sound was great...not too loud! one of the reason's I went with Rush, they were not expensive. I was pleased with them, but I'm going to put Vance&hines on the 09 ultra I just bought.

Hope some of this helps.

Thank you for the responses - KoalaCowboy and Ronp42.

Have you heard of 2009-2010 Touring model recalls? Where can I get a copy of that list if any?

Thank you!

1) No, my wife always rides with me and she loves the tunes. I did upgrade my speakers to Hog Tunes.

2) Harley or Kuryakyn. I like the HD

3) I have the stock pipes but will be changing to Screamin Eagles. They (whoever "they" are) say the SE pipes are just a little louder and deeper than stock. I also have the SE stage 1 air and remapped. Be careful with the exhaust you go with. If the pipes are too loud your passenger may not hear the tunes. Also after a few hours on the EGC loud pipes, at least for me, can be somewhat distracting.

Recalls:

The front tire on the 09 (407's) may cupp. I have 12200 miles and the front tire is perfect.
The jiffy stand back plate may need to be replaced. If the bike is leaning too far then HD will replace the back plate
A recall was just issued for 09 and some 2010 touring models. Check your VIN with the dealer or go to the HD website under service and enter your VIN. This recall has to do with a front end collision and welds rupturing the gas tank.

I like the HD Pegs; they work well and look great.
