Default Progressive Springs on a 2009?

Has anyone put Progressive front springs in there 2009 yet?

If so how do you like them?

Is a heavier oil just as good as Progressive springs?

In spring I am thinking of adding them to reduce front fork dive.

This might be why nobody wants to answer right now. No, I have not tried them (just to answer your question).

matrix, thanks but I read that thread before asking.

Since the 2009 have a different frame and suspension I was looking for 2009 owners who used Progressive. I sure don't have the spare cash for the Olins!

Oil won't make up for a soft spring. Drop one in and set the "preload" (if needed) which effects the "sag" and go find some recessed manhole covers to feel the difference.

I put the Progressive front spring kit in my 09 RK Police. Came free with the purchase of their rear 440 shocks -- it was a special they were running for a while.

I'm very happy with them and the front brake dive is gone compared to stock. There are more expensive options out there but this works just fine for me.

I just don't get throwing huge money at the suspension of heavy cruiser -- especially with floorboards -- because you still ain't going racing on Sunday with it. A sport bike, yes, but a Harley Tourer -- I don't get it.

Rant over.

Go with the Progressive front spring kit and you'll notice the difference on day one.

The effects of heavier oil are negligible (and can be detrimental in some cases) compared to a decent spring. There's a whole science on that stuff out there.

Finally, after reading all the Progressive posts/rants - the answer! I too thought about the Progressive's for the front forks since I have the 12" 440s on the rear and I also wondered if just changing the oil would be the thing to do (not) - so, I'll get the lowering springs.

I just installed progressive springs on a 2010 Ultra. I kept the ride height stock and used the standard HD type E fork oil. The front end / brake dive is history and the overall ride is much improved. You no longer have to brace yourself for every little bump in the road. Steering input is more responsive. I took advantage of the free spring offer w/ shock purchase. I figured I'd try the springs and if that didn't fix the front end dive problem I'd look into a set of the monotubes - No need problem solved good to go. Having never done it before it took me about 3.5 hours start to finish. After doing it once I could easily cut that in half.
