Question Quieting down the Bub 7’s

Well, I am very happy with the looks and performance of the Bub 7 true duals, but I think they are a bit loud for my neighbors. (Old retired people who don’t own bikes and are very nice and watch my kids from time to time.) I really don’t want to wake them up every day when I leave for base at 5am. I found quiet baffles on the Bub web sight and was wondering if anyone has used them. I have a few questions as well. I have Fuel Moto PC5, and air cleaner my 08 Ultra.

1) how much will these baffles quiet the bike down?
2) Will I need a new map for the PC5 if I use them?

this from the Bub web.

These baffles will only work with the Complete BUB "7" true duals.
They will not work with the BUB "7" standard slip-on mufflers with a 1 3/4 inch inlet.
These baffles will reduce the sound level around 6 decibels.
This product is designed for use on closed course competition motorcycles only.

Got no experience with the quite baffles, but have seen it discussed here before. I have the Bub 7 TDs and just keep off the throttle in the neighborhood. Not to be a wise a$$ but the SEARCH button may be your friend on this one.

it's a Harley! that's the sound Harley's make. i'd ask your neighbors if it bothers them before clunking down cash man.

troy.j, what did you wind up doing? Did you get the quiet baffles?

I'm looking at getting a used Bub 7 TD system that a guy is taking off his bike because his wife said they were too loud. Unfortunately, they are off the bike and it's below zero here in MN, so no chance of listening to them. What was your experience with the TDs - very loud or not bad (I know they are not quiet!). Can you compare them to any other slip ons you've had? V&H, Rineharts, Rush, other???

I've read all the posts and listened to some sound bites, but I need some compartive idea of the loudness before plucking down the dollars for the exhaust and dyno.

Thanks!!

Thanks

Default bub td's too loud?

I have the rhinehart td's. They are loud and I have wondered about bothering my neighbors when I leave for work. They have said they hear me leave in the morning. I do try to keep off the throttle when I leave. Problem is I have to go up hill just a little and they do get loud. I really like the sound of them though. I hope the neighbors don't mind too much.
I have heard the V&H oval slip ons and they are a bit quieter. You may want to go to the next event at your local dealership early and listen to the other motorcycles coming in the parking lot. Just a thought.

Would love to go listen to some, but the windchill is -28 here in Minnesota... no bikes out. The used pipes are available now... won't be there by spring.

thanks for the comparison to the V&H. I like the sound I've hear on some sound bites, but I'm just afraid they will be too loud, especially if I drive out west to California or some other dingbat region that has the sound cops out.

I'm torn between putting these on or putting on a pair of Dyno Tuned Jackpots. The later will give me a nice performance bump (I have the SE 255's and great low end torque at 97 ft/lbs), a deep rumble and if they are not loud enough, I can put their competition baffles in. But, I won't have the TD sound.

Cost wise, about $550 for the used Bubs installed vs $350 for the Jackpots shipped. Both will need a dyno (dealer did mine in October when I did the cams and will redo for $100).

I installed BUB7 true duals on my 09 FLHX and found that they didn’t fit as well as promised (had to modify left side panel), and were way TOO LOUD for the other riders in my group. Wondering if anyone had success with the quieter baffles for these pipes, or just another waste of funds.

Tired of riding in the back…..
