I have seen in a few threads where some of you have purchased the hammock seat. I have been considering replacing my stock seat with the hammock. But, I do have some concerns (I have had poor luck with the quality of H-D seats - they tend to tear apart at the seams). Of those of you that have the hammock seat, have you riddent it for more than a couple thousand miles? Does that hammock stretch? I certainly don't want to be sitting on the seat pan with no support one day because the hammock stretched to the point that it no longer provides any benefit.
I think the Hammock is the best seat that Harley ever had built.... I have had the new style and the old style of zepplin air seat, have tried most seats including corbin and mustang, I have about 9000 miles on my hammock including a 3000 mile 3.5 day ride in the snow and rain.... the seat allows for longer and much more comfortable rides of distance.
I have a little over 4000 miles on mine and that is 99% of the time 2 up and love it, the wife is alot happer with it also. 500+ mile days not a problum.
This is what I love about this site.
I had one and did not care for it at all... I felt that for the money it was not much better than a stock seat as far as the distance I could travel in comfort without stopping. Now that being said, I am a Big guy and I believe the seat was not designed for 200lb+ riders. I did not feel like I was sitting on the Pan (You really can't do this because there is foam between the Hammock and the pan) but I did not feel I was getting the level of comfort a $500.00 seat should provide.
I now have the "New Improved" RZ seat and could not be happier. I can ride from full to empty (Near 200 miles) without any Butt Burn or discomfort of any kind. My riding buddy's have to stop me sometimes because I can go alot further than they can between stops.
I had no problem selling my Hammock seat for what I paid (I got 20% off) so if you can get a good deal and want to try it I say go for it, it maybe the seat for you.
