My next mod is going to be bars on my Bagger. I have an 08 EGC with ABS. I want between 10 and 12 inch bars. I really like the Yaffe Monkey Bars and Santee design isn't bad. Also BR's Custom Bars has gotten my attention. My next concern is installing them myself or having it done. Any tips and pics and suggestions would be appreciated.
Are you changing the bars for looks or comfort? If you are looking for comfort try and ride a similar bike with the bars you want. I installed 12 1/2" chubbys on my 08 RK, after a long ride I decided I would go higher next time. If you are a do it yourself type of guy you can expect to spend @ $600 for handle bars, new clutch cable, Brake lines and extending your wiring harness. Barnetts offers an extension for your electric throttle.
Thanks for the replies. I found out today that this mod if done by someone else will hit me around $1200 or better. At this cost I need to really do more homework.
I'm kind of partial to bars with brass poles and pretty girls....doh, wrong bar thread.
give www.hillcountrycustomcycles.com a look. They hooked my buddy up with a killer package deal and we installed them easily in a few hours.

Reason: web address
I've done taller bars on all 3 of my scoots and yeah, it can cost as much as 1200 bucks if you go with chrome controls and switch housings including cables and top of the line bars, and HD extended wiring harness.
So when you think of it like that, then you fersure want to make certain the bars you select are what you really want. I first went with 10" HD bars and managed to reuse my cables and wiring, but soon discovered 14" bars were needed to really be comfortable, and that is when it got expensive becuae it required new cables and longer wires.
OK, I am considering doing the job myself but only if I can find detailed instructions with pictures I can follow. I am wanting to get 10"or 12" Paul Yaffee Monkey Bars for my 08 EGC with ABS. Do anyone know? Would love to get this done without paying the labor cost. HELP!!!

About all you really need is a few bucks and a good buddy........I've installed 3 apes for myself and maybe a dozen for my friends. Buy some beer and brag on your friends apes. Tell your wife to dress sexy and bend over a lot in front of them.
Trust me, there ain't no mod that can't be done by a bunch of horny drunk bikers with only hand tools and a place to flop afterwards.
