use Gunk Flush???? I'm in the process of winterizing my bike. Won't ride for approx 4 months so I'm going to change the oil with dino 20w50 (big Amsoil fan but not to sit all winter) and change the tranny fluid. Stopped in my local auto parts store and one of the guys recomended this product. I'm more likely to use in the spring that to store.
No need to try to flush anything or swap in dino oil to just sit there. If it's time to change your oil, change it. If not don't worry about it till spring. As the others have said, add some gas stabilizer and put on your battery tender or pull battery and charge it a time or two during the winter.........What's not been mentioned, though is fogging. I would fog the engine if she's gonna be laid up for that long.
well you guys are gonna tell me im nuts but.... All the other bikes ive owned I gave them a good wash stuck em in my shed with a cover over them and moth ***** under the cover and sometimes I used Stabil and some times I didnt.. I also covered the end of the mufflers with freezer or samitch bags.. Ive never had a problem letting a bike set thru the winter here in michigan without stabil in the gas... My glide classic sits in my garage with the heat on all winter (lowest setting is 50 when im not out there working) and I start it like once a month and crack the door and turn on the window exhaust fan I have and let it run for a while. If its gonna be sitting longer ill toss the tender on the battery ... Also I wont change the oil till spring ... Havent had a problem yet with any of my bikes... Ok flame on dudes
Nothing to flame you on...I don't Stabil in anything that is only gonna sit for 3-4 months, either.....I don't agree on starting the bike up every now and then and letting it idle. You are doing more harm than good. All you are doing is fouling your oil with contaiminents, because it never gets hot enough to burn the crap off, not to mention the worst thing to do for an air cooled engine is just let it sit and idle.
