Default Oil change????/

Amsoil site recomends SAE 20W-50 Synthetic Motorcycle Oil (MCV) in all 3 holes as the best. then list 75w-110 severe gear in tranny as secondary and 75w-140 as alternate. what is best to run in wide temp range of Minnesota?

2002 EGC and 2006 Low Rider.

I run amsoil 20W-50 in the crank and primary and 75-140 severe gear in the tranny year round i ohio and i do ride in the winter at least once or twice every month. many are going to say in the winter you should run the thinner viscosity oils id guess but have had no issues do keep the bike in a heated garage.

I would run the Severe Gear but probably the 75-90. That's what I use and my winter and early spring riding is not near as severe as yours.

This was a big decision for me last year when I bought my 09 EGC.
one dealer said use 75w140 Belray. another dealer said use 75w90. I happened to run into an old guy who has been around Harley's all his life and work's at the Dealer now that does my service. He has an 08 UC
He suggested using Amsoil 20W50 in the engine and primary and 75W90 severe gear in the Tranny. I took his advise and I could tell a difference when I left the Dealer on my ride home. I'm taking the 08 UC 105th I just bought down this week to have the same thing put in it. Wouldn't use anything else.

This Dealer sells Amsoil!!!

Same here. I use HD syn3 in the primary because I have some left over. Live in NJ and ride in the winter as well.

Let me take the liberty to rewrite your post....

I now have a 2006 Ultra and will continue to run the 20/50 in all three. I used to run it in my 2000 EGC as well

But then after I trailer my bike up to Dawg's in January to do some minor work on it and combat the heat issues that I'm having, I will run whatever Dawg puts in it!
