I will be installing a new (louder) horn if I can get the old one off ... actually have the old horn off, but I'm suppose to "Unscrew the rubber mount from the weld nut on the engine strap". Sounds soooo easy ... the rubber mount is probably 1 1/2 to 2 inches in diameter and I can just get my pliers over it and try to turn, but to no avail ... it don't wanna budge, and now I'm worried that I'll mess something up ...
Anyone remove their horn and the "rubber mount"?
thanks for any help ...[sm=alcoholic.gif]
hey ... just figured out how to post a picture in a post ...
this should be of that ole "rubber mount" ...Rubber Mount CLICK HERE
I installed the HD air horn. I used a second nut and tightened them against each other. I then used the inner most nut to unscrew the rubber bracket. It is a PITA but it will come off.

Finally back to installing my HD Premium Air horn.
Still having a problem getting the rubber mount off .... I put the 2nd nut on and then twisted .... and guess what? The rubber broke away leaving me just the mount ()
Now I have this round plate attached (no rubber) and really nothing to grab on to ... anyone think one of those "easy-outs" may work? or should I just continue drinking? [sm=alcoholic.gif][sm=alcoholic.gif]
I had the same problem. Here's what I did to get it off.
Squeezes a pair of pliers right on the threads and used brute force. Of course the rubber mount got ruined but you don't need it anymore. Toss it.
I had the same problem. I used a heat gun to loosen up the loctite and then vice grips did the rest. grab the post and turn. becareful with the heat gun since fuel line is there. It took me several hours to install the new horn, mostly removing the rubber mount to find I didnt like the one tone sound, good luck.
