The overall average for my 09 UC is currently: 44.56 mpg. I have had a high mpg of: 56.58 and a low mpg of: 34.22

I generally always have my tour-pak full and the saddlebags at 50% full, riding solo for 70% of the time.
56.58mpg!!!! you must have been dropping off Loveland Pass!...lol

Default Mpg

You are looking at it all wrong. MPG is not a functioin of engine size. As others have said, it is the tune (AFR) in the part throttle cruise range and how much you use the extra power. If your build is sound and tuned properly your MPG can be exactly the same under the same conditions.

Most of the variables in MPG that you will hear about come from the PCIII or PCV off-the-shelf maps. They are set (conservatively) slightly rich for the safety and liability reasons. At part throttle settings the bike will feel more responsive in the low 13's AFR but your MPG's will be in the mid 30's. If your AFR's are set to mid 14's for the cruise range you be in the low to mid 40's MPG.

I would bet that you never took off on any cross country trips in your muscle cars. I know I never did. But when you are riding on a road like Hiway 2 from Broken Bow to Alliance Nebraska where it's about 200 with no fuel stops...

I promise you will be concerned with mileage.

When I got to Alliance I put 5.8 gallons in my 6 gallon tank!

At some point I am going to mod the motor on my '08 SG but I will want to make it as efficient as possible.

Mine dropped a couple MPG, but I do not ride conservatively either, I paid for the power, and I use it every time I ride it.

My guess is gas was less than $3.00 a gallon when you were doing this.

Mike

What kind of mileage are you getting now on average?

You would be correct with that bet. My trips were stop light to stop light and a 1/4 mile. Does that count???

103 stage II and if I run 55-65 I'm getting 47-49. The top posted speed in AK is 65
most of the roads around the house are 55.

You probably don't don't ride very far, or do any real touring.

Mileage is critical to the number of miles (range) before getting gas. Not an issue of $$, but a real issue if you ride in areas where you don't really know where the next gas sation is.

I've done plenty and still do plenty of trips to rallys and places elsewhere, so I'll disregard your off base comment there greg. In most cases, there is usually some sort of fuel station within 125 - 150 miles. If there is not, I adjust my route accordingly and pay attention to my odometer. My previously comment in this thread was simple, if I want to do engine mods whether it be to a car or bike, I personally couldn't care less about mileage, I do it for performance/power. Others may have different opinions, these are mine. Now tell me greg, since you are the expert here, just what is real touring???
