Default installing front lowerin kit for 09 street glide

Was wondering how many have installed the front lowering kit on a street glide. Im thinking of trying it myself and was wondering if there were any" special HD tools" that you had to have and how difficult it was to change out the parts. Thanks guys (and gals)

I have on mine and a few dozen or so others.

NO special tool are REQIURED but they do make it easier. Fork cap socket and seal driver makes life easier, 3/8" impact makes pulling the bottom bolt much easier. A fork level gauge makes setting fluid level easier too, but can all be done using standard tools you should already have!

The only special tool you will need is to install the fork seal. I just made one by using a PVC pipe (same diameter as the seal) just a tad longer than the upper forks so you can "pound" it in place.

Another challenge was compressing the spring enough to get the fork cap back on. I put a towel on the floor and put the fork cap upside down on it. I then turned the lower upside down onto the fork cap, put my weight on it, and turned the lower to screw it into the fork cap.

Good luck and really not too bad

well i went ahead and opened the box to see if there were any directions. There was. It listed a few "specialty" tools that WOULD make installing a lot easier. I think no more than it cost to have it done, im going to take it to the dealer. thanks!
