My side stand on my 02 Ultra is not retracting all the way and hangs loose a few inches. It drags when I make relatively sharp left hand turns. I replaced the spring and it still has the same issue. My bike has a hole in the frame for one end of the spring to go into. My buddies 05 Electra Glide has a boss that is welded to the frame for that same end to go into. Is mine correct??
I took the nut off of the side stand shaft and pulled the shaft out. Is there supposed to be any type of bushing on that sahft or in the side stand bracket that the shaft goes into?
My '01 only has a hole in the frame. No bushing on shaft either. On my stock kickstand there's a 'bracket' type piece that the spring hooks to. Does yours have that? If so, you may be able to bend it slightly so the spring is stretched tighter.
So it looks like I am a bonehead just like my wife says I am! I could sworn I put a new spring in there. I look at the bottom of my tour pack and there is the new spring that I bought still in the wrapper. Installed that sucka and it works perfectly. Thanks for the reply Cuda! Cheers
