I am going to add a king tour pak to my 07 flhx and I am going to mount it a detachable 2 up bracket. I have seen 2 different types and am not sure if there is any difference in the two. The newer one, as shown on H-D website, looks stronger or better than the other one. The other one does not look as long and might not have as much support to the bottom of the tour pak. Can anyone tell me if there is a difference or which one is better? Thanks
if you are going to mount it and keep the ability to ride 2 up, you will need the 4 point docking hardware. If you want to mount it and ride solo, you can get away with the 2 point hardware.
thanks, I am going to ride double and am ordering the docking kit I need tomorrow but I was wondering about the detachable bracket. Is there any difference? not sure.
The stronger looking mount is probably the 09+ mount P/N: 53276-09A
You need the mount for an 08 and below P/N: 53276-04 which is $179.85.
I have one that I am no longer using. I'll give it to you for 120.00 shipped to you (free) if you're interested. Just sayin. In perfect shape.
Up to you. I'm just not using it... I have a 2010 now.
You still need to purchase the 4 point docking kit P/N: 53804-06 and do something with the antenna, like go to a hidden or shorty one.
Well I wish I had read you comments sooner, I just ordered and bought a new one 53276-04 online for $160. I am going to the Harley dealer and ordering the 53804-06 docking brackets today. Thanks for the info.
It'll be plenty strong enough...the mounting brackets can be a bitch to install though, here's a picture that has helped me a lot, theres also a thread floating around by Moats i think that had a really good write about the install.
Thanks for the website pointer. I have the front docking kit on already I need the rear docking kit now. Thats ok about thinking it was an 09. Not problem. Thanks to all of you guys for the comments. I know more now then I did when I started and thats what this place is all about.
