ANyone have any opinions on the Lepera Bare Bones solo as far as comfort or quality? I am trying to find a low slim solo seat and this seems like a nice seat.
Had one on my lowrider, great look and quality, but the name says it all BARE BONES, not much cushin for the tush. Great around town, to and from work but wouldn't use it on a long ride.
Listen to me on this one!! I bought a Lepera Bare Bones Solo for my 09 Street Glide. It looked nice and when I sat on it it felt great. I couldn't ride on it for more than 20 miles! It is the worse seat I've ever owned and I'm on my 6th Harley in 15 years. I called Lepera and she asked me how much I weigh. I replied 225 pounds. Her answer was I was to big for the seat and that's why they named the seat "Bare Bones". I agree. If your a small man and weigh under 150, it may work. The seat does lower you into the bike for a nice feel. I tried it about six times, hoping it would break in but itt killed my but every time. I sold it to a smaller man, 135 pounder, who put it on his 2010 ultra classic. I then bought the Mustang solo which is very comfortable but I didn't like the look for my 09 Street Glide. Iended up going with the Harley Brawler Solo for the 2009. Nice sleek look and it covers the two bolts which stick out of the rear fender. The Lepera and Mustang don't cover those two bolts. You need a Mustang mini bib and the two chrome nuts to screw onto the two rear fender bolts. I wouldn't recomend the Lepera.
My thoughts. The SG comes with a very comfortable seat that looks almost solo (I wouldn't want to sit on the back). However, if you must go with a solo, I think the Brawler looks good on a SG, but it is not comfortable at all!! I bought a Mustang Vintage Solo for my '10 Road King - looks great, feels great, $300. But maybe the profile is not right for a SG. Corbin has a nice looking low profile design for about $460. This maybe your ticket to the "look" and "comfort".
I have one on my 2000 Road King Classic, seat is hard & takes some getting used to. I would not use for a long ride either. I left for Thunder Beach with mine on & wished I had put the stock seat back on within 50 miles or so. I ended up sliding a pillow under me for the rest of the ride. Photo of my bike with seat is below.
Thanks for the insite guys, after your comments, i will cross that one off my list. Looking at a slim 2up seat or the brawler. took my stock seat off and my paint is very dull and scuffed so i don't know if a want a solo on there with that showing now!!!
