Default Shipping Warning

The front fender on my 08 SG was damaged in shipment. A load bar was put on the van just in front of my bike. Apparently the bike shifted and the load bar came down on the front fender. When I picked it up I was told by the people who unloaded it not to worry. It was clearly their fault and it would be replaced with no problem. The damage was noted on the manifest and photos wer taken by them and me.
That was on November 15th and I still have not been paid but have been told I should have read the fine print that stated they are responsible for only .60 per pound (.60 x 800 = $480.) Besides not being paid the full amount in a timely manor, they treat me like I am a major PIA. I have ordered and paid for the fender out of my pocket. It will be replaced in the next few weeks. A word to the wise - read the fine print.

Anyone have a need for a dented front fender off a 2008 SG, Sunglow Red?

I'm thinking that this was a moving company that shipped your bike along with your other stuff and not a professional motorcycle / vehicle shipper. In that case .60 per LB is the rule. But.....they should have offerred you full replacement value insurance which usually goes for about $10 per $1,000 of declared value.

Anytime you turn your bike over to a third party for any reason, you have to be clear on who pays if it gets fugged up.

I shipped my Ultra from California to Newfoundland a few years back. When I picked it up it was still in perfect condition. I was a little worried, though, when two guys that looked like gang-bangers picked it up in California. I got screwed with a fee for getting it through customs but that's another story. If you don't have the time to ride to your area of interest I highly recommend shipping it and flying to pick it up. The two most important things are get it there early in case there is a problem during shipping and make sure your bike is covered in case it is stolen or damaged.

It was a GREAT ride back to CA.

It's a deep crease across the front of the fender. I have a photo but don't know how to post. I would take $100. for it.

You might want to hold off on that dude cause once the insurance does pay off it becomes their property IF they want it. They may or may not ask for it, you just never know.

The BOL lists Freightcenter out of Trinity, FL. They are part of a larger network called STI out of Fort Wayne, IN

Good point, I'll have to look into that.
