Service your bike as needed and just keep riding....I have 77k on mine. It still has the original wheel bearings, stator, regulator, clutch, belt, ect. I would ride it anywhere, anytime with no worries.

If you've done long trips before, I'm sure you program the phone numbers and addresses of the closest Harley Dealers for the places you will be visiting in your smart phone. If no smart phone, bring either the Rand-Harley Road Map book, which you can purchase at Barnes and Noble, which has all the Harley Dealers addresses and phone numbers, or HOG sends out a smaller version of same which also lists all the dealers with icons on the maps.....just in case.
Even without 39,000 miles on my 08 "Electraglide" Ultra, I've needed those numbers on long and sometimes short trips.

Ride Safe.

39000K is not high miles for a well built bike like Harley. I have an 08 Ultra as well. I just bought it. I took it to my Dealer and he did a full warranty check with the 5K service. Just for my piece of mind (PROBABLY WASTED MY MONEY) I bought the 5 year extended warranty. Not just for worries of breakdowns, as I was going to buy a Roadside assi. program anyway. My wife and I plan several trips in 2010 as well. Sturgis being one. Remember the wheel bearings Harley uses are used in many applications where loads and miles are much heavier. Don't worry, as long as you maintain the service, you should be ok!!

the only thing I've always looked at prior to a long trip is the condition of my tires..went to sturgis a few years back with someone who decided to wait on tires till after the trip cause they "had a few miles left on em" watching him blow a tire at 80 and go into the ditch convinced him it was not the smartest thing to do...

If any maintenance is needed, if it works with your mileage, have it done just before you
leave on your big trip. That way your bike will be fresh to go.
I try to plan having new tires on before heading to Sturgis.....but that's just me.

look over your bike before you go, do your regular scheduled maintenance, and then take a xanax. you have just as much risk as your car breaking down as you do your bike. enjoy the trip. thats why you bought the bike in the first place isn't it?
