Ditto all that has been said. If still nervous arrange in advance for a check-over on some delare about 1/2 way into the trip. I always carry some energy bars and water just in case something should go wrong though. Dont forget to changes batteries in the remote alarm system. Based on my (and the forum experience) you should be OK on a 2008, but the book says 2 years and apparently it is a right pain where you sit if the fob does not work when the alarm is set

nah, not so much. just make sure that you know the procedure for the manual override. if your batteries go dead on your trip, they are easy to find most anywhere. i just changed my battery on my 07 (purchased new in june 06) so should be good on the 08
