Default Top fork nut ?????

Anyone know size of socket to get the fork nut off. I'm installing progressives new monotube cartridges if I get all the tools I need.

Yesterday I got my performance package with carbon fiber mufflers from Fuelmoto and now my 09 RG I got 2 weeks ago is in a lot of pieces. Wife just don't understand. Thanks Mike

It's some plus 30th-ish mm.
But I use the axle nut wrench in my HD tool pouch to get the fork nut off my '09 RG.

I think 36mm. I also use the multi wrench that is in the standard touring tool kit.

It's a 1 3/8 nut. I got a socket on ebay for $21 shipped that works great. It is shorter to fit under the handlebars . You can use a 1/2 drive ratchet or a box wrench on it. Just do a search on ebay for "
Harley Sportsters Big Twins Forks Cap Nut Socket Tool "

Although it is a 33MM, the best wrench to use is a 1-3/8" offset.

A 35mm axle nut socket will work.
I bought one at Kragen.I'm sure Autozone,etc.- would have one.

Don't waste your money on the socket...It's a pain to use...It will give the unsettling feeling that it could slip off and damage your paint and tank any time...

Go down to northern tools and get one of the open/box end wrenches for $12 and you'll feel so much more confident that the nut will get broken and re-installed and no damage to any of the tins will occure...

I own both and when I do a friends bike or my own for what ever reason I always reach for the combo wrench...You can't go wrong for the price...
