Most everyone will tell you slippon mufflers and a good air cleaner and a ECM flash will give you the most bang for the buck. The old butt meter will feel the differance too, and your bike will run better and smoother. That being said, if in time you are going big bore, cams, and head work, save your money and just put on a good pair of mufflers for now, and your bike will sound like a Harley. No ECM flash is needed if you keep the stock air cleaner, just save up money until you are ready to do the whole ball of wax
After talking to the service tech at my dealer, I broke down and bought a SEST. Not so much for my current stage 1 set-up, but more so for my anticipated cam/.030 project. He said they'd only charge me $40 for mating my SEST, downloading a matching canned tune and do a dyno run to check everything out. I'll do a custom tune after my cams/gasket work is done. Thanks for the info If I can get that kind of deal from my dealer I will work that angle. My dealer hasn't been hard to work with but I would not bend over to pick up a bar a soap in front of them. I like keeping my soap on a rope and this forum has helped me to do that.
