Hey Dale, you probably already know this but most gps units don't run off 12v so make sure when you wire it you don't eliminate the step down transformer that's in the cord. I know I'm probably telling you somthing that you already know but I thought I'd mention it just in case.

It is not necessary to buy the complete plug. you can purchase only the parts you need. Parts bought separately are not much. If I remember right it was under $5 to wire my gps. This was at a harley shop

If you get the hard wire for your particular gps you will be just fine.

Thanks Jay, it is already hardwired into my battery tender right now. I just want to have it switched so it isnt always powered when the bike is running. I think the transformer on mine is in the cradle.

Got the plug today and everything is working perfectly. Just like I wanted it to.
