There were too many posts I wanted to quote so will just add do the Tunnel/bridge up to Md. and spend some time in Ocean City. Some of the best seafood places you can find there. The traffic sucks there that time of year but you will not regret the experience!!!

You'll be fine w/True Duals in PA, I have them on my UC and run Martin Bros w/o baffles on my Train.

I would also recommend using and Atlas and plotting HD dealers along, or vicinity of your route. Something that save me was plotting Walmarts. Yeah, I know, made in China imported crap but when your rain suit tears, a bulb burns out, you get the gurgglies, etc, Walmarts have it all.

I'd add these extras to your list: clear lense glasses/inserts when the evening creeps up on you or you want to take the scoot out at night, flashlight, and a couple of water bottles. I also tend to carry a few apples to snack on for longer trips because they're easy to pack, not messy, and give a quick burst of energy that lasts a good while.

For hotels, reserve early and tell your buds to do the same. I've saved about 35% reserving 2 months out.

Good luck w/your summer ride plan.

+1 on the paper map/atlas/guide. GPS is fine, but carry a backup that relies on you, not printed circuits.

My buddy got turned around in NYC this summer -at night- and found himself in, by his account, a fairly nasty neighborhood and the GPS was not helpful....
Fortunately a good Samaritan was there to get him going the right way and everything worked out ok..

The beauty of a gps is that it always knows where you are, but you may not! So as others recommend buy maps as well and plan your route. Ear plugs are essential IMHO, but you do not need two helmets each! There will be quite enough to carry without taking them. You are going on a journey, not a trip round the block, so take the most suitable riding gear, including rain wear.

As you are visiting family, considering posting some of your things to them, such as your normal clothes, to reduce the weight of stuff on the bike. And have a great time!

Cool Ditch a set of helmets...

I'll be putting the Harley dealer list, and possible hotel stops in the Zumo. Packing half helmets for the heat and 3/4 helmets w/sheilds for rain, rainsuits, cable lock, tools that came with the bike. Any suggestions for routes, points of interest, tools, spare parts or anything to make the trip better, safer, more interesting or whatever would be appreciated. I know this trip probably isn't a big deal to some of you, but it will be our biggest one so far and the first ride in the U.S.

Thanks in advance

Give yourself some room, ditch the extra set of helmets. Take either or, but leave a set home, you won't need both...IMO
