Ok, I know that the loudness thing is subjective, but I've got a decision to make. I found a Bub 7 TD setup on an 07 EGS that only has 3,000 miles on them. The guy had to have them but the wife says they are too loud. He's replacing with Rush TD and SE Street slipons. Price: $450 and they look like new.
My current setup is with stock exhaust, old SE II slipons (about 60K miles on them) and SE 255 cams. My wife is ok with the current loudness, but I don't want to go with something louder - just a little deeper than the SE's. I heard them inside the dealership service bay for a minute... loud but I didn't have a comparison. Went home to start mine up, but the battery is dead... another expense.
I've read what I can on the forum. Most people like the Bub 7 TDs. For those who have had them, are they "loud" at idle, at cruise. How would they compare to V&H slip ons or my SE II slip ons?
Any other issues that I should be concerned about. This is a great deal and I would like to take advantage of it. I've even worked a deal to have my bike re-dynoed for $100 at the dealer (did a very good job when I put in the cams). My service tech has told me that the SE's are really poor for perf and that I should get about 5 more HP by going to the Bubs and should lose any on the low end torque.
I found mine to be too loud, nice sound but I couldn't hear my stereo. So I ordered these http://www.bub.com/Bub_Accessories.cfm?pa=list&psearch=&zsb=0&sc1=Acc essories&sc2=&sc3= up and am very happy with them.
Second from the top of the page.
I had it dynoed earlier this year and I will get around to posting it here soon.
WHAT! Ive got the Rhinehardt slipons, dont know how they compare but i love them and can hear my stereo. However a buddy of mine took his off his RK, thought they were to loud. Go listen to some at a bike night. Good luck.
Only you can decide. You might want to look into B&E Superflows Max 2's. They have a great Harley sound, not too loud at idle, but really barks when you get on it. $159 shipped.
My experience is that they are not too loud but but people that ride behind me disagree. Last summer I pulled a trailer across 3 states and it got to be annoying, even with ear plugs. The sound bounces back off the trailer.
But, if you are running the SE IIs. Those pipes are pretty loud. I just added the BUB7s to my bike. I really like them... I had jackpots on my RK, the bubs are louder. I can hear the radio...
Based on what you said I'd checkout the FuelMoto Jackpots. Nice and deep sound. Not too noisy at cruise, but they really make their presence known when you twist the throttle.
When I was considering a new exhaust, a dealer was kind enough to let me test ride a used Ultra with Bub7 TD's. IMO they are loud at idle and cruise. They turned some heads as I rode around town, but I didn't care for the sound.
Even though the Jackpots are not as loud as the Bubs, the note is deeper and to me that more important than the volume.
Then again, lots of people swear by the Bub's. It's definitely subjective.
As already said, it is a matter of opinion, I have had Bub 7 TDs for about 12k miles and love them. Hearing the stereo is no problem. $450 is a good deal if they are in good shape, I paid $700 for mine.

Same here had them on for 10k miles. Great sound at idle and cruising but when you nail it they're pretty loud. Stereo sound is fine and others will know you're comin
