You are right it is an 09' there isn't a crossover line on it. i do have the manual and i get the part about the pressure release, but how do i get the rest of the remaining gas out im kinda stuck here i have about a 1/2 tank left and it's to cold to ride that long.

I used a small, soft, flexible siphon hose and carefully inserted it around the float assembly when I had to empty the tank on mine.

Try this...about 4 feet of flexible hose. Carefully push as much as you can into the tank so it's submerged in gas. Cover the remaining end with your thumb. Pull all but about 1 foot of the hose out and place the end in a suitable container positioned near the bike and lower than the gas tank. The fuel should start draining into the container. Once it starts, it will flow as long as the other end remains below the gas level in the tank.
