Just came back from a long bike trip across country.
My '05 Ultra had a rear tire going down and the dealer we stopped at (who will remain nameless) took it in right away, which I was grateful for. They said they found the hold from a nail and were going to replace the tire so I waited.
When it was done, they left the tire on and only replaced the tube. The tech told me that it was such a small hole that I need not worry about it since I had a lot of good tread left, he put the tire back on.
60 miles later down the highway doing 70, the tire goes down again, I nurse it to the side of the road and called the dealer. They referred me to a closer dealer 60 miles in the direction I was going. Ted's HD in Alton, IL hooked me up.
Get this: The tech at Teds inspected the tire and found that the NAIL WAS STILL IN THE TIRE!!![:@][:@] It punctured the tube.
Cost me an additional $200 for a 60 mile tow after waiting an hour and a half in the sun. Plus a new tire, tube, balance, etc.. and $290 more later I was back on the road.
