Default Springs with Intiminators

From those who have installed Ricor's Intiminators, what have you done as far as your springs? Ricor says you just leave the stock ones in, but I know there are people who are running either Works or Progressive springs.

I'll be installing Intiminators at some point this winter, so I appreciate any feedback about them.

I dropped Progressive springs in, stock length.
I lowered it using the Arlen Ness Lowering Dampers.

Did you change springs at the same time you installed the Intiminators?

The ride WAS much better at first.
I think the oil is worn out.
They recommend using 5wt. synthetic fork oil...and my opinion, that's too weak.
I'm going to change the oil before Daytona and see if that's any better/longer lasting.
I'm going to try the Screaming Eagle fork oil, see how that goes.

Overall, I'm happy with the setup.
It's no race bike setup by any means, but much better than the factory ride.

That's good to know. I was wondering about the 5wt. they recommend. The S/E oil is 10wt. isn't it?

You know...I couldn't answer that if you were holding a gun to my head.
I've read many, many threads on here regarding fork oil.
The concensus seems to be that the Screaming Eagle oil is pretty good ****.
The way everyone says it firms the ride up, I'd almost bet it's like a 25wt. oil.
I've always used Bel-Ray 20wt. in the past.
I'm just gonna try something different this time.

My buddy Marc and I both installed Intiiminators in our RGs, his an 09, and mine an 07. As you are probably aware, the stock springs on the 09 are aprroximately 35% stiffer.

Neither Mark nor myself changed the springs, and we both used the 5 wt Amsoil oil supplied by RICOR.

Both of us are extremely pleased with the results. Mine, the 07, had too much brake dive, the the Intiminators really helped. Marks ride was actually a bid harsh over the crummy freeways we have in Southern Cal, and the Intiminators really help his. Mark will post a thread in much more deteail in a couple days.

Unless you ride the bike really hard, and are concerned mostly with handlng (versus ride quality) you might want to stay with stock springs and the 5 wt oil.

Also, call Bryan at RICOR...he is quite knowledgeable. Tell him your riding style and see if he has any suggestions.

In any case, I think you are going to like the results

greg
