My Road king is still brand new (350 miles)...but I have to ask the board for advise.
At about 2200-2600 rpm in 3rd and 4th gear, there seems to be a pronounced "ticking" sound coming from the engine. My concern was possibly a stuck lifter, or maybe the primary chain tensioner.
Anybody else have this noise...and is it normal? Will it fade as the bike gets broken in?
Or the valve train (push rods/lifters). Mine has a bit of a "tick" at about that rpm. It should diminish with time. Probably. It'll definitely diminish with louder pipes. If it really bugs you, when/if you get cams changed get adjustables and ask who ever does the work to try to tune the noise out.
Same thing with my '09 Road King. Smooth like butter until I got a few hundred miles on her, then the ticking started. Just normal engine noise from what i've heard/read. If it still happens, I don't notice (bout 5k now.)
