Default Chain Drive Conversion ?

Does anyone make a Chain Drive Conversion Kit for a '09 FLTR?Frank at DragosBikeWorks is in the process of installing a 107" kit,GMR heads{spec'd by Frank},and a Pro-Charger w/14lb pulley.Bike is estimated to make 170-180hp. I got a feeling the stock belt drive isnt going to handle this kind of power for too long.

Why do think that the belt is going to give out with a 107 kit? 180hp with a 107?

I don't know how you'd get a sprocket on a stock '09 wheel with the rubber cut-out's.

He'd need to go to an aftermarket wheel with an aftermarket sprocket.
RC Components makes sprocket's.
Then he could order the front sprocket from Drag Specialties.

Spacing would be up to him.

The way prochargers build power it will probably be ok. Its not like the thing is gonna have massive low down torque.

I wouldnt be in a hurry to go to a noisy filthy chain.

Iif you are regularly breaking belts you either need to be gentler on the clutch, feed the throttle on more gently or drop the boost, the belt and the gearbox output shaft have similar torque limits....

Unless your box is a baker??

Yeah 170-180hp.,with a Pro-Charger and a 14lb.pulley It's a whole different world.Go to DragosBikeworks.com and take a look at the dyno sheets.I had the same Pro-Charger{w/10lb.pulley} on my '07 FLHT.It was completely stock and dyno'd at 123hp/116tq.Just by adding a Pro-Charger I gained almost 100 %.I think thats pretty respectable.

I had my 04 Nevello Custom softtail S&S113 converted over to chain. As the trans leaked out the main shaft on the belt and in to the dry clutch. Caused the belt to strip. Ill take a Noisy filthy chain any time over a belt . Chain is easy to fix work on. I can't hear chain nose over the drag pipes any way. I don't mind cleaning the bike. It's no big deal. Don't have to remove **** to replace a chain. Wish they never went to belt drive. To me the only things should have a belt. Is a open primary dry clutch . And a super charger. But thats me.

Fastbaggers bike will make 180/190 hp and 160 plus tq. This is not a (std) 107 kit with a blower this bike will have every thing. Custom crank, custom rods, custom special cylinders and custom pistons. etc.,etc.,.. Not std. All to my specs...????
It will be fun!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been looking for a conversion for a little while now--chances are you're going to break the belt -- a HQs 107 will shred the new 07 and up belt (don't ask me how I know) it may/may not happen right away but if you are inclined to doing rolling burnouts, hitting the gas hard at take off, and/or pulling the front wheel of the ground find a chain or kepp a spare belt around. Most of buddies that have 07/08 bikes with built motors have gone to chain drive.
