Default Gerbing Link Broken

some of the leds are not of the highest quality either. they can be pretty dull.

anything below the highest setting supposed to blink.

instructions pdf -- look on right side, Connecting your controller... line #2.

your electrical system comes into play. a stronger alternator will crank these things up. what bike are you using these on? FLHTC/U... should be more than sufficient.

i cannot put the Gerbing G3 gloves on max on the 2010 EG. even at 15° they get way too hot. i put them on max for 5 seconds, and back them down. same with the Gerbing jacket liner.. max for 5-10 seconds, and back it down.
Just wanted to note the Gerbing manual link is broken.
Do you have the PDF file available?

I'm sure you do, but are you using the correct amp fuse that the instructions call for when using both the jacket liner and the gloves? I have the same pieces but without a temp controller and my jacket about makes me sweat and my hands stay toasty warm (but I'm also riding at 28 degrees and not 19 degrees).

Anyway, on the way to work I noticed the gloves did not seem as warm as they had been in the past. The jacket liner was absolutely toasty. At a stop, I looked down at the controller and the light for the gloves **** was blinking. The jacket light was dim. I had the jacket turned down at that point which may explain the dim jacket indicator light. But the gloves light continued to flash. After work, I suited up and made doubly sure everything was hooked up correctly. Started the bike and plugged in the power cord. When I turned on the liner and gloves, the gloves light began blinking immediately. Although the temps were warm enough this afternoon to not need a lot of heat, the indicator flashed all the way home. Any ideas? I checked all the documentation that came with the jacket liner and gloves. Nothing mentions the lights on the controller. Maybe there is nothing wrong and 19 degrees ambient temperature is too low. But I doubt it. Any ideas will be appreciated.
Had same exact issue. I finally got tired of the problem and set up a test rig to power the jacket, gloves and pant liner to see what was actually happening. I found that the jacket and pant liner were getting all the power needed to operate but the gloves weren't. One glove didn't have a negative side and the other didn't have a positive. Seems the weak link is the coax connector on the jacket sleeve that connects to the gloves. I decided I needed the jacket and gloves working so I replaced the leads from the sleeve pocket out with the ends of a "Y" adapter cable I had that came with my gloves. I opened a small seam at the bottom of the pocket where the leads come out of each sleeve, and spliced in the new ends. Voila, nice hot working gloves complete with variable voltage from the controller. I then ordered a new set of "Y" cable to have on hand in case this happens again. Make sure you use a volt meter to verify polarity, but usually the wire with the white stripe is the HOT or positive wire. Good Luck.

FYI, Did some destructive analysis on my coax connectors that I replaced. Seems the point of failure or weak spot is the area just where the molded strain relief ends. One or both of the wires will eventually break due to the folding back of the wires and the constant bending just where the strain relief ends when wearing gloves. The coax connectors themselves were fine.

Had a similar problem. I use the Gerbing T5 gloves, jacket liner and dual controller. It turned out to be the controller so I replaced and all is well..

Try swapping the cables where they connect to the jacket liner.. If the gloves get hotter and the jacket no so much, that'll confirm that it's the controller and not the garments.

I had a similar issue this morning. I have both the H-D 12V BTC jacket liner and pants. This was my third time using the gear. First two times worked flawlessly. However, today the indicator on both the pants and jacket liner were flashing. I'm assuming it's either the y connector or lead coming off the battery. Will need to trouble shoot this evening.

I rode in 19 last week. I too thought they didn't feel warm but when my hands weren't cold at all after 45 minutes at 70mph, I knew they were working just fine.
FWIW....For the Harley BTC gear, I don't believe the blinking LEDs are 'normal'. I believe it's the indication of a bad connection.

Pretty sure that it would be okay to start a new thread after almost 8 years. Just sayin'...

Default Double Check

You should check the plug from the wire on the gloves to see if has a straight connector or a 90 degree connector. When I had the setup a few years ago, T5 gloves with the heated jacket, the gloves were not warm enough. At the NY bike show I talked to a Gerbing's rep and he said that they were aware of the gloves not warming the fingers properly. He advised me to return the T5 gloves and exchange them for their newly designed (at the time) G3's with the 90 degree connector. Possibly you have an "older" set of T5's with the straight connector?

marked thread. I'm waiting on my battery tender port adapter and some cold weather. It's supposed to be almost 80 here today. Anxious to try out my new (to me) liner and gloves.
