Default Harley heated gear problem...?

I have the HD heated jacket liner and gloves with the dual thermostat. Rode to work this morning (19degrees) becasue the afternoon temps were supposed to be in the upper 40's. Anyway, on the way to work I noticed the gloves did not seem as warm as they had been in the past. The jacket liner was absolutely toasty. At a stop, I looked down at the controller and the light for the gloves **** was blinking. The jacket light was dim. I had the jacket turned down at that point which may explain the dim jacket indicator light. But the gloves light continued to flash. After work, I suited up and made doubly sure everything was hooked up correctly. Started the bike and plugged in the power cord. When I turned on the liner and gloves, the gloves light began blinking immediately. Although the temps were warm enough this afternoon to not need a lot of heat, the indicator flashed all the way home. Any ideas? I checked all the documentation that came with the jacket liner and gloves. Nothing mentions the lights on the controller. Maybe there is nothing wrong and 19 degrees ambient temperature is too low. But I doubt it. Any ideas will be appreciated.

The thermostat pulses to try to keep the heat as a constant level that you've set. The blinking light basically shows the pulses. Even full blast the gloves wont feel "warm" at speed in 19 degrees. But your hands wont get cold either. I love mine!

I rode in 19 last week. I too thought they didn't feel warm but when my hands weren't cold at all after 45 minutes at 70mph, I knew they were working just fine.

OK. I can believe that, somewhat. My concern would be why would one indicator light show steady on and the other one blink? Or am I worrying too much about little stuff and need to concetrate on ride more? Thanks for you thoughts EdwardK.

I just bought the gloves a couple days ago and starting to wonder if they have a problem. The back of my hand is quite warm but the fingers are not very warm and that is mostly why I bought them, to keep my fingers warm. Guess I will be calling Gerbing.....

the light will not blink at the highest setting. supposed to run steady led.
some of the leds are not of the highest quality either. they can be pretty dull.

anything below the highest setting supposed to blink.

instructions pdf -- look on right side, Connecting your controller... line #2.

your electrical system comes into play. a stronger alternator will crank these things up. what bike are you using these on? FLHTC/U... should be more than sufficient.

i cannot put the Gerbing G3 gloves on max on the 2010 EG. even at 15° they get way too hot. i put them on max for 5 seconds, and back them down. same with the Gerbing jacket liner.. max for 5-10 seconds, and back it down.

I have the Gerbings jacket liner and glove liners. The jacket will cook you on high but the glove liners only get a bit warm. I do not know if that is normal or not.

I just talked to Gerbings and they suggested either taking them back to the dealer or send them in. Called the dealer and they will have me a new pair in a weak. This is in regards to my earlier post that the fingers are not staying warm but the top of my hands are. One thing that I am annoyed about is that neither Gerbings nor my dealer can tell me what model I have. Wish now I would have bought them either directly from Gerbings or one of the many discount sites I have read about here.

I have all HD heated gear and the HD Dual controller. The documentation that comes with the HD gear is not as informative as the Gerbing sheet that NYBagger92 provided. Thanks for the info man! I read through all the paperwork (what came with the HD heated gear) last night and even had the wife read through it to make sure I did not miss something. Could not find any mention of the LED's on the controller in the HD paperwork. I'll check the gear again this weekend. It's supposed to rain today and tomorrow so I'm in the cage for a couple more days. Thanks again to everyone that replied.
