It only takes a few more minutes to lift the tank and run the wires throught the harenss guide under the tank - and you wont have to worry about the paint on your tank being rubbed off.
Did my other HD that way and it was just as easy... The wire harness I installed on this bike follows the factory harness as well, so there is no chance of the paint getting rubbed off/on even though it passes through and not under the tank. Not sure that all HD bikes will be this way, so its a very good point and if your thinking of doing this you will need to see which route works best for your application.
They don't work. The ballast are made in china and are of inferior quality. They short out. When you buy the kit, it states that if you cut the wires, you void the warranty. There is no way NOT to cut the wires to install the unit on an Ultra.
The company http://www.xtremehids.com/ offered a refund . I shipped the unit back to them and they KEPT my unit and would NOT refund my purchase stating the wires were altered. I would NEVER buy anything from this company.
I had the HID unit professionally installed.
These lights will also discolor your lenses.

tx sorry to hear what some vendors do... I have three bikes and all have HID kits installed, not one has ever had an issue with any of the problems you mentioned in your post. My oldest kit is approaching 6 years on the bike! Still works like a champ without any discoloration or problems what so ever... I guess I've been fortunate in that the two vendors I chose to use are still in business today. If you take your time and purchase the connectors male/female from a local car parts store you shouldn't have to splice into the HID kit wiring. What you experienced is not the first time I've heard this... All HID kits are NOT created equally, be sure and do your homework with whom ever you decided to purchase from it'll pay big dividends in the long run.

Who did you use? If they worked for 6 years that is one I would like to go with.
