Last resort on squealing brakes
Last resort go to a floating rotor but, which one? Any ideas?
.. The squeal is gone though. Also at one time i had a bit od a squeel on the rear and while i was doing all the stuff to mine along with the rotor polishing i scuffed the rear rotor up good with a red scotch brite pad and I have no noise.. Now after telling you this it will prolly do it this summer..
After repeated attempts to clean the pads and pistons, still had hot rotor and some squeal.
I made one more attempt at cleaning and found that I had one piston that was sticking. With some rigging, I managed to isolate the sticking piston, cleaned it well, and now all pistons operate freely.
I placed a drop of anti-seize on the non-friction side of both pads where they contact each piston, re-installed everything, and tested.
I no longer have any squeal and the rotor is now only barely warm to the touch shortly after riding.
Cleaning each piston and getting them to move in and out without restriction seems to have solved my problem. That one sticking piston was giving me that much of an issue.
Good luck!
