Default 2004 FLHTCI - Adding Rear Speakers

Am interested in adding rear speakers to bike equipped with factory Electra Glide Classic radio. Have been pointed to Arc KS 125.4 (four channel amplifier) as the best way to get good volume out of both front and rear speakers.

My concern: Stock radio has no Fader control. Is this a situation where fader truly does not exist? Or is it simply not visible in menu since no rear speakers are connected? Or perhaps there is a way through programming to turn on the fader?

If neither of the above is possible, is there a "clean" way to add external fader?

Or perhaps I should just get a 2 channel amplifier, add more efficient front speakers and forget about rear speakers?

Appreciate any suggestions. Bike is low mileage - think that better audio might help me get it out on the road more often. Local dealers seem more interested in selling me a new ultra than helping me through my questions.

One of the benefits of the HD Service Manual are the wiring diagrams. The wiring diagram for the audio system will show you that your bike doesn't have the wiring for rear speaker output/fader. The Ultra Classic has an additional 23 wire connector plugged into the rear of the head unit to provide audio output to rear speakers, passenger controls, etc.

If you shop Ebay, you will see brand new HD amplifier with rear speaker kits at heavy discounts for your bike. The discounts are offered to move old stock that is not compatible with '06 and newer models due to the change in that year to the Harmon Kardon head unit and its electronics.

Another comparatively inexpensive alternative is a Hog Tunes kit that includes amplifier, speaker, speaker pods and wiring. Can be found on Ebay brand new for under $300. Check their website first to identify the kit for your model year.

Scroll through the past two weeks' of threads and you will find a ton of audio modifications to consider.
