cleaning wheels
Now's a great time to send YOUR wheels out, have them chromed, and then remount them for the good spring riding. I sent mine to ChromeProsPlating out of Corpus Christi, TX. They did a super job, very reasonable, and the quality is outstanding. Both wheels for around $525. That's been three years ago, so prices could have gone up, but they do a great job, and you always know you're getting your own wheels done. Good luck trying to clean them. It's a major pain in the butt. One of the best things I ever did was chrome my entire front end and wheels. So much easier to maintain, and it always looks great.
These guys below are supposed to be real good platers.
Chemicalguys.com has a wheel sealer but it has to be reapplied every so often. Wheels are not clear coated. Bare aluminum
Chrome Wheels Exchange - OEM & Aftermarket Motorcycle Chrome Plating Exchange,

Impress Plating and Polishing http://www.ippworks.name/ I did the wheel exchange and couldn't be happier. Price was right and their work is perfect, 3 year warranty also.

Try Flitz metal polish or if you can find it Wenol Metal polish (it's a German product). Both do a similar job and remove oxidation and stains. Wenol is usually sold at auto shows, flitz can be found at some hardware stores.
Put some on a rag or small polish wheel and just keep rubbing, using a clean rag/wheel on a continuous basis. Makes mine shine like chrome. Wenol has a protectant that stays on for awhile, not sur about Flitz.
