Red Lift Modification Sears?

I got the red Sears lift for the Street GLide...works great and am happy with for the less than $100 bucks I spent. But has anyone made a modification to it so you can lock it in position a bit lower than the lowest slot for the lock foot? Like grind off the foot an inch or so ....so it is lower . I would like it only 3-4 inches off the ground at the first stop?

I think you would be better off to take it by your local welding shop and have them weld on two more pieces of round stock if you are not capable of welding.

Where the cross bar comes down and hits the main frame, I ground it out on each side and got it to go about an inch lower without losing any strength
